The VLTI

I have used the so-called second generation instruments (GRAVITY, PIONIER and MATISSE) of the VLTI for a range of research programs. These have all been conducted in service mode (meaning that the observations themselves were conducted by VLTI staff astronomers) or designated visitor mode. As the VLTI is situated in the mountains of Paranal, Chile, conducting these observations remotely in either of these ways is extremely beneficial.
